Abstract

Transition-Action-Details (TAD) strategy is good strategy in teaching writing recount text TAD strategy provides students’ space to describe what happened, supply a reaction or details about what happened, and use temporal words to signal event order. This study was conducted by using experimental quantitative research. Experimental used to establish cause and effect by manipulating an independent variable to see its effect on a dependent variable. The population of this study is the eight grade of SMP Negeri 1 Sirandorung. There are two parallel classes, VIII-1 and VIII-2. Each class consists of 30 students. The total numbers of the students are 60 students. The data were obtained from pre test and post test that is applied in experimental class and control class. The experimental class is the class which is taught by using TAD strategy and control class is the class which is taught without giving TAD strategy It is a design in which the writer manipulate at least one independent variable and its effect on one independent. From the calculation, the result shows that the t-observed (4.94) is higher than the t-table (1.671). it means that Ha hypothesis accepts the level of significance 0.05 with df = 58.  It is found from the computation of the t-test that t-observed is higher than t-table (4.94 > 1.671) at the level significance of one tail test (p= 0.05) with degree of freedom (df= 58).
